Family Weekend Information & Check-In

Time: 9:00 am - 12:00pm
Location: Student Union 1st Floor Lobby

Upon your arrival to Family Weekend, stop by Family Weekend Check-In, located in the Student Union. There will be signage across campus pointing towards Check-In. When you visit Family Weekend Check-In, your family will receive information about the events planned, a campus map, a coupon to the UConn Bookstore, and more!

UConn Bookstore

Family Weekend Brunch

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Student Union Lawn (outdoor tent and indoor seating will be available)

Reserve your seat at this meal for your family when you complete the official Family Weekend Registration. Walk-ins will not be accepted on the day of the event. Dress is casual. To see the full menu for the Brunch, click the link in the title of this event.

J. Robert Donnelly Husky Heritage Sports Museum

Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Location: UConn Alumni Center, 2384 Alumni Drive

Located in the UConn Alumni Center, this museum is the ultimate destination for both long-time fans of the school and first-time visitors. The growth and development of Connecticut athletics is traced via text, photographs and select artifacts from its humble beginnings in the 1890s to its present day ranking among the elite major college athletic programs in the nation. Let the sights and sounds of more than a century of intercollegiate athletics competition come alive during your visit, and make sure to see the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship trophy.

Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry

Time: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
Location: 1 Royce Circle

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 3,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials, and photographs all covering the history of puppetry. We encourage you to stop by and see all of our treasures.

The current exhibit at the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is Tradition and Revolution in Indian Shadow Puppetry, curated by puppeteer and UConn graduate student Rahul Koonathara.  The exhibit celebrates the spectacular South Indian shadow puppet traditions of Tolu Bommalatta and Tholpavakoothu, as well as recent innovations reflecting the changing nature of the form.

Free tours of the Museum of Puppetry will be offered at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm.

Performances of Paloma and the Retreat of Death, a tragicomic puppet show by New Zealand artist and current UConn student Tom Tuke will be held at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm.

Dairy Bar

Homecoming Parade

Time: 12:00 pm
Location: Hillside Road and Fairfield Way

UConn's 2023 Homecoming celebrations begins today!  The excitement kicks off with an annual tradition - the Homecoming Parade!  Teams of UConn student organizations will be showing off their talents and artistry as they march through the center of campus.  Follow the parade, which begins in front of the Student Union and travels down Fairfield Way, all the way to the Founders Green by the Wilbur Cross Building.  Immediately after the Parade, stop by the Homecoming Carnival sponsored by SUBOG!

Homecoming Carnival

Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: Founders Green by the Wilbur Cross Building

Games, inflatable obstacle courses, food, and so much more! Join the students of SUBOG in celebration of Homecoming at this annual festival! Activities for the whole family, including younger siblings!

Bubble Soccer Tournament

Time: TBD
Location: Rec Turf, Jim Calhoun Way across from Morrone Stadium

Bubble Soccer Tournament is open to anyone with an active UConn Recreation membership.  Registration will occur on the UConn Recreation website.  Families of the Bubble Soccer participants are welcome to attend and watch tournament from atop the hill beside the Rec Turf.

William Benton Museum of Art

Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Location: 245 Glenbrook Road

The William Benton Museum of Art is Connecticut’s state art museum with a collection of more than 7,000 works dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries. The museum annually presents 10-12 exhibitions of art from its collection and from loaned works. Lectures, gallery talks, salon discussions, campus art walks, musical performances, and drawing sessions are among the museum’s popular programs. In addition to the exhibits in the museum, check out UConn's collection of campus art and sculptures through the Benton's self-guided walking tour.

A Hundred Words for Snow, a CRT Performance

Time: 2:00pm
Location: Nafe Katter Theatre, 820 Bolton Road

The Connecticut Repertory Theatre (“CRT”), the professional producing arm of  UConn’s Department of Performing Arts, is celebrating UConn Family Weekend with $15 tickets to our opening production, A Hundred Words for Snow.  Tickets are available online at www.crt.uconn.edu, through the CRT Box Office at 860-486-2113 or in person during regular box office hours.  Use discount code: UCONNFAMILY.
