Family Weekend Information & Check-In

Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Outside of the Student Union

Upon your arrival to Family Weekend, stop by Family Weekend Check-In, located outside of the north and south entrances of the Student Union. There will be signage across campus pointing towards Check-In. When you visit Family Weekend Check-In, your family will receive information about the events planned, a campus map, a coupon to the UConn Bookstore, and more!  Families that purchased admission to the Specialty Meals (Saturday BBQ and/or Sunday Brunch) must stop by to pick up their tickets/wristbands to the meal(s).  Families that did not purchase admission to the Specialty Meals are not required to visit Family Weekend Check-In.

Celebrate Your UConn Family: Annual Legacy Breakfast

Does your family bleed blue? If you're an alumni parent, grandparent, and/or sibling with a current student attending UConn, we consider your family a UConn legacy family. You're invited to celebrate your legacy together at our annual Family Weekend breakfast and pinning ceremony. Registration is required; click the link in the event title to register. Questions? Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills Open House

Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Location: Wilbur Cross Building, Room 202

The Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills welcomes students and their families to an open house where you can meet our career coaches, explore the Center’s spaces and resources, as well as learn how we play a central role in supporting student success at UConn! Discover the ways we help students become career ready through personalized coaching appointments, build connections for internship and job opportunities, and cultivate life skills need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Student Employment & Workplace Learning Open House

Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Location: Wilbur Cross Building, Room 202

Visit the Student Employment & Workplace Learning open house to discover how working on-campus can help students graduate with not only a degree—but the experience, confidence, and skills future employers are looking for. Learn about student labor and Federal Work-Study opportunities, explore available campus jobs, and see how the Work+ program transforms everyday work experiences into meaningful professional development.

Jorgensen Gallery

Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts

Visit the Jorgensen Gallery, located in the lower level of the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts and explore their exhibit 'Flesh & Fable' curated by UConn graduate Afarin Rahmanifar.

Hike the HEEP with the Office of Sustainability

Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: 159 Discovery Drive (Lot K)

Take a hike in the HEEP (Hillside Environmental Education Park) with the UConn Office of Sustainability. Get to know the peaceful trails and learn about how this area spurred UConn's commitment to sustainability. The hike will be about 1 mile on mostly flat but uneven terrain. Bring your sneakers or hiking boots. Hike will be lead by OS staff and our team of super star undergraduate interns. Parking is available at the Innovation Building, Lot K, or you can take a shuttle. African American Cultural Center Open House

Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Location: Student Union, Room 407

Join us for a self-guided open house at the African American Cultural Center, featuring informative displays highlighting each room and affiliated student organization. Guests are invited to explore at their own pace while enjoying a looping slideshow of past events and light background music. Light refreshments will be available. We are also pleased to serve Chicken & Waffles, a returning favorite from last year.

Family Weekend BBQ

Time: 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Location: Tent on the Student Union Lawn

Reserve your seat at this meal for your family when you complete the official Family Weekend Registration. Walk-ins will not be accepted on the day of the event. Dress is casual. To see the full menu for the BBQ, click the link in the title of this event.

William Benton Museum of Art

Time: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: 245 Glenbrook Road

The William Benton Museum of Art is Connecticut’s state art museum with a collection of more than 7,000 works dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries. Visit the museum to see the current exhibitions and enjoy an in-gallery scavenger hunt. In addition to the exhibits in the museum, check out UConn's collection of campus art and sculptures through the Benton's self-guided walking tour.

Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry

Time: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
Location: 1 Royce Circle

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 3,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials, and photographs all covering the history of puppetry. We encourage you to stop by and see all of our treasures.

Dairy Bar

J. Robert Donnelly Husky Heritage Sports Museum

Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Location: 2384 Alumni Drive

Located in the UConn Alumni Center, this museum is the ultimate destination for both long-time fans of the school and first-time visitors. The growth and development of Connecticut athletics is traced via text, photographs and select artifacts from its humble beginnings in the 1890s to its present day ranking among the elite major college athletic programs in the nation. Let the sights and sounds of more than a century of intercollegiate athletics competition come alive during your visit, and make sure to see the 2023 & 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and 2025 NCAA Women's Championship trophies.

The Road to Success

UConn Choirs Concert

Time: 2:00 pm
Location: von der Mehden Recital Hall

The UConn Music Department welcomes family and friends to our exciting annual UConn Choirs Family Weekend Concert.  Six choirs will perform in a fast-paced afternoon of music that's sure to brighten your day and welcome all to campus.  This concert is always a popular event so please arrive early to be sure to get a seat!  There is a small, per person fee to attend this concert performance.  You can purchase tickets in advance through the online von der Mehden Box Office.

Cornhole Tournament

Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Student Union Lawn

Compete against other UConn families in everyone's favorite lawn game, cornhole!  Sign ups will be held in-person on the Student Union Lawn beginning at 1:30 pm.  Families will have the opportunity to play in at least two cornhole matches with the winning teams moving onto a winner's tournament in the late afternoon.  The winning team wins $100 to the UConn Bookstore!

Celebrate Mansfield Festival

Location: Downtown Storrs

Did you know that Storrs is a village within the Town of Mansfield? Get to know this vibrant, welcoming community at the 23rd Annual Celebrate Mansfield Festival! This fun, free event is open to everyone and features hands-on activities for all ages, a juried craft show, and more! Try some tasty treats for sale at our food booths and enjoy a cold drink at the Festival beer garden. Enjoy live music, dance, magic, and puppetry performances throughout the event.

Doug Bernstein Game Room

Time: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Student Union, 1st Floor

Located in the Student Union off of Union Street, the Doug Bernstein Game Room is one of the best places on campus to relax.  Stop by with the family to play air hockey, pool, ping pong, video games, arcade games, and more! The Game Room will be free to UConn students and their families during Family Weekend.

Muslim Family Day

Join us for Muslim Family Day! Meet the Dean of Students, key administrators, and ICUC, enjoy delicious food, and connect with other families! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the resources and opportunities for Muslim students at UConn and make new connections! Q&A included!

Family Bingo

Get ready to shout “BINGO!” and win some fabulous prizes! Join us for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and friendly competition. We’ll provide the cards and markers, you just bring your family's game faces and maybe your lucky charms!

Women's Volleyball vs. DePaul

Location: UConn Volleyball Center

UConn Women's Volleyball faces off against Big East rival DePaul at the UConn Volleyball Center during Family Weekend! Come cheer on the Huskies! Visit UConnTickets.com for tickets and more information! UConn students do not need to purchase a ticket, but family members do.

UConn Football vs. Miami (OH) Watch Party

Location: Tent on the Student Union Lawn

Come together with fellow fans, family, and friends to cheer on the Huskies as they take on the Miami (OH) Red Hawks. The game kicks off at TBD. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just looking for a fun afternoon, this event is the perfect way to enjoy the game day atmosphere without being in Ohio! Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of the UConn community spirit!  Wear your UConn gear and bring your Husky pride! Go Huskies!

Grab a Burger from the UConn Food Truck

Family Open Skating

Time: 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Location: Toscano Family Ice Forum

Online sign-ups for Family Open Skating will go live on Monday, September 21st at 10:00am.

Has your family ever wanted to skate at the new Toscano Ice Forum, home of the UConn ice hockey teams?  Here is your chance!  Open skating will be free to UConn students and their families during Family Weekend.  This includes complimentary skate rentals too.  Skate rental sizes range from Youth 9 up to Men's 14.  Below is a list of the available skating sessions.  Each session is a 90-minute commitment.  Families must arrive 30 minutes prior to their schedule on-ice time to fill out an Acknowledgement of Risk Form and get fitted for skates.  Each skating session will include 40 minutes of on-ice time, followed by 20 minutes to return skates and depart the locker rooms.  Please arrive on time for the skating session your family signs up for, bring your UConn Student ID, and food/beverages (besides water) is prohibited.

  • Arrive by 3:30pm, skate at 4:00pm, departed by 5:00pm 
  • Arrive by 4:30pm, skate at 5:00pm, departed by 6:00pm 
  • Arrive by 5:30pm, skate at 6:00pm, departed by 7:00pm

        Terry Fator - Pure Imagination: Once Upon a Voice

        Legendary Las Vegas headliner Terry Fator has created a new road show and it's coming to Storrs for UConn Family Weekend. Pure Imagination: Once Upon a Voice is a 90-minute spectacular, featuring the incredible impressions, comedy and ventriloquism that has made Terry and his characters a must-see show for fans across the nation. The show features the classic characters Terry has made famous over the years: Winston the Impersonating Turtle; Country Star Walter T. Airdale; Apollo Theater legend Julius; perpetual slacker and stoner Duggie; Vikki the Cougar and the world's greatest Elvis impersonator, Maynard Tompkins. Recommended age: 13+ due to some mature themes.
