UConn Bookstore

Explore the Journalism Department

Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Location: Susan Herbst Hall, 4th Floor

All families are welcome to visit the Journalism Department for refreshments and student-led tours. We are the only nationally accredited Journalism Program in New England. We offer a broad range of courses for many interests, including sports, environmental and investigative reporting, multiplatform editing, media law, ethics & AI, podcasting, photojournalism, and video storytelling.

William Benton Museum of Art

Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: 245 Glenbrook Road

The William Benton Museum of Art is Connecticut’s state art museum with a collection of more than 7,000 works dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries. Visit the museum to see the current exhibitions and enjoy an in-gallery scavenger hunt. In addition to the exhibits in the museum, check out UConn's collection of campus art and sculptures through the Benton's self-guided walking tour.

Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry

Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: 1 Royce Circle

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 3,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials and photographs all covering the history of puppetry. We encourage you to stop by and see all of our treasures.

Dairy Bar

Time: 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
Location: 17 Manter Road

Come enjoy a scoop (or two!) of UConn’s award winning Dairy Bar ice cream. With over 24 different flavors to choose from, there are options for the entire family.

Pet Therapy at the Benton

Time: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: 245 Glenbrook Road

Visit with cute pet therapy dogs Wrigley and Lucie at the William Benton Museum of Art, in partnership with Tails of Joy and SHaW. 

Get the 'Scoop' on Studying Abroad

Time: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Location: Fairfield Way, between the Student Union and the School of Business

Stop by our Study Abroad Information Table to learn how UConn students can explore the world through our global programs — and enjoy a free scoop of ice cream while you're here! Our Experiential Global Learning advisors and past participants will be on hand to answer questions, share resources, and help you discover the many opportunities available for Huskies to study abroad. Whether you're just curious or ready to plan, this is the perfect chance to chat and chill!

J. Robert Donnelly Husky Heritage Sports Museum

Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Location: 2384 Alumni Drive

Located in the UConn Alumni Center, this museum is the ultimate destination for both long-time fans of the school and first-time visitors. The growth and development of Connecticut athletics is traced via text, photographs and select artifacts from its humble beginnings in the 1890s to its present day ranking among the elite major college athletic programs in the nation. Let the sights and sounds of more than a century of intercollegiate athletics competition come alive during your visit, and make sure to see the 2023 & 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and 2025 NCAA Women's Championship trophies.

Family Weekend Information & Check-In

Time: 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: Student Union, 1st Floor Hallway

Upon your arrival to Family Weekend, stop by Family Weekend Check-In, located in the Student Union. There will be signage across campus pointing towards Check-In. When you visit Family Weekend Check-In, your family will receive information about the events planned, a campus map, a coupon to the UConn Bookstore, and more!  Families that purchased admission to the Specialty Meals (Saturday BBQ and/or Sunday Brunch) must stop by to pick up their tickets/wristbands to the meal(s).  Families that did not purchase admission to the Specialty Meals are not required to visit Family Weekend Check-In.

Doug Bernstein Game Room

Time: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Student Union, 1st Floor

Located in the Student Union off of Union Street, the Doug Bernstein Game Room is one of the best places on campus to relax.  Stop by with the family to play air hockey, pool, ping pong, video games, arcade games, and more! The Game Room will be free to UConn students and their families during Family Weekend.

Flu Vaccines at Student Health and Wellness

Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00pm
Location: 234 Glenbrook Road

Get a step ahead of the flu by getting your flu vaccine. Students can stop by Student Health and Wellness at the Hilda May Williams Building to receive a flu vaccine.

Explore the Homer Babbidge Library

Time: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Location: Homer Babbidge Library, Plaza Level

The Homer Babbidge Library is UConn’s main library and is packed full of resources, services, study spaces, technology, and much more. Pick up the brand new HBL guide and some giveaways from the library services desk on the Plaza Level before exploring 450,000 square feet of space across seven stories. And don’t forget to check out those incredible campus views from the top floor!

The guide, giveaways, and views will be available all weekend.

Planetarium Shows

Time: 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: UConn Planetarium, near Swan Lake on North Eagleville Road

Join us for a reopening of the UConn Planetarium! Experience our newly renovated space and state-of-the-art projector with short planetarium shows running every 30 minutes, starting on the hour and half-hour. Each session will feature an exploration of zodiac constellations, a showcase of planetary motion, and a journey through several deep sky objects. We’ll conclude each show with a brief Q&A. Seating is limited to 30 people per show.  To guarantee a spot, reserve your family's tickets in advance. Walk-ins are welcome, but availability is not guaranteed. We recommend reserving early to ensure your group can attend together.

An Evening with Jim Spinnato

Time: 5:00 pm
Location: Student Union Theatre

Comedic hypnotist and magician Jim Spinnato will be performing for UConn students and their families for FREE! Jim has a long time residency at Comix Comedy Club at Mohegan Sun Casino. Walk-up event; no tickets needed, space is limited.

Dinner on Your Own

Time: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Location: Across Campus

Women's Ice Hockey vs. St. Cloud State

Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Toscano Family Ice Forum

UConn Women's Ice Hockey faces off against St. Cloud State at the Toscano Family Ice Forum during Family Weekend! Come cheer on the Huskies! Visit UConnTickets.com for tickets and more information! UConn students do not need to purchase a ticket, but family members do.

Family Shabbat at UConn Hillel

Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: 54 North Eagleville Road

All families are welcome to join us for a Family Shabbat at the UConn Hillel House. Student-led services (optional) will start at 6pm, followed by a free dinner catered by UConn Kosher Dining.

SUBOG Movie - Raiders of the Lost Ark

Time: 8:00 pm
Location: Student Union Theatre

FREE to UConn students and their families. UConn student must be in attendance and bring UConn ID.

Late Night

Time: 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Location: Student Union

Late Night plans and hosts exciting free programs and activities every Friday night in the Student Union.  There are always interactive activities, food, giveaways, prizes, & so much more! Late Night is open to all UConn students and their families during Family Weekend! All events are planned and facilitated by student staff who strive to provide a safe and inviting experience for students who are looking for something fun to do on Friday nights.
