Connecticut Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Time: 10:00 am - 10:30 am
Location: 626 Gilbert Road

Join the University community for the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the Storrs campus' newest residence hall, Connecticut Hall.  This 7-story building features over 650 beds, a 500-seat dining hall, and is LEED Gold certified.

William Benton Museum of Art

Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: 245 Glenbrook Road

The William Benton Museum of Art is Connecticut’s state art museum with a collection of more than 7,000 works dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries. The museum annually presents 10-12 exhibitions of art from its collection and from loaned works. Lectures, gallery talks, salon discussions, campus art walks, musical performances, and drawing sessions are among the museum’s popular programs. In addition to the exhibits in the museum, check out UConn's collection of campus art and sculptures through the Benton's self-guided walking tour.

Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry

Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: 1 Royce Circle

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 3,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials and photographs all covering the history of puppetry. We encourage you to stop by and see all of our treasures.

Dairy Bar

Time: 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

Come enjoy a scoop (or two!) of UConn’s award winning Dairy Bar ice cream. With over 24 different flavors to choose from, there are options for the entire family.

Pet Therapy at the Benton Museum of Art

Time: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Location: 245 Glenbrook Road

Visit the William Benton Museum of Art and get the chance to meet therapy dogs, Wrigley and Oliver!

J. Robert Donnelly Husky Heritage Sports Museum

Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Location: UConn Alumni Center

Located in the UConn Alumni Center, this museum is the ultimate destination for both long-time fans of the school and first-time visitors. The growth and development of Connecticut athletics is traced via text, photographs and select artifacts from its humble beginnings in the 1890s to its present day ranking among the elite major college athletic programs in the nation. Let the sights and sounds of more than a century of intercollegiate athletics competition come alive during your visit, and make sure to see the 2023 & 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship trophies.

Family Weekend Information & Check-In

Time: 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: Student Union 1st Floor Hallway

Upon your arrival to Family Weekend, stop by Family Weekend Check-In, located in the Student Union. There will be signage across campus pointing towards Check-In. When you visit Family Weekend Check-In, your family will receive information about the events planned, a campus map, a coupon to the UConn Bookstore, and more!  Families that purchased admission to the Specialty Meals (Saturday BBQ and/or Sunday Brunch) must stop by to pick up their tickets/wristbands to the meal(s).  Families that did not purchase admission to the Specialty Meals are not required to visit Family Weekend Check-In.

Doug Bernstein Game Room

Time: 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Student Union, 1st Floor

Located in the Student Union off of Union Street, the Doug Bernstein Game Room is one of the best places on campus to relax.  Stop by with the family to play air hockey, pool, ping pong, video games, arcade games, and more! The Game Room will be free to UConn students and their families during Family Weekend.

Parent & Family Reception with the Dean of Students

Time: 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Location: Student Union Room 104

Dessert reception with the staff from the Dean of Students Office to engage with parents and families.

Botanical Conservatory Tours

Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Location: 75 North Eagleville Road

The UConn Botanical Conservatory has the largest and most diverse collection of plants at an academic institution in the Northeast, and one of the top three most diverse university greenhouse facilities in the country.  With over 2,700 species in about 10,000 square feet, the Conservatory Collection is a living library of extraordinary scientific, conservation and educational value.  An estimated 60% of all UConn students utilize and visit the Conservatory for classes and it provides profound, immersive learning opportunities for both students and residents of Connecticut.  It is a place to unwind, explore, and immerse yourself in the incredible biodiversity the Collection offers. 

A Unionized Campus

Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Location: UCPEA Office, 18 Dog Lane

Strong labor unions on campus create happy and healthy living and learning environments for students.  We invite parents for a conversation about the positive impact of a unionized campus. A short presentation will explain the work that the unions do to support staff, faculty, grad workers, and more. We aim at dispelling myths about a unionized campus, and will facilitate discussion around the concept of "our working conditions are your students learning and living conditions." Time will be allocated for questions and answers from parents.

Planetarium Shows

Time: 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: UConn Planetarium, near Swan Lake on North Eagleville Road

Planetarium Shows have SOLD OUT!  Walk-ups will not be permitted due to the limited space at the Planetarium.

Join us for a reopening of the UConn Planetarium! Experience our newly renovated space and state-of-the-art projector with short planetarium shows running every 30 minutes, starting on the hour and half-hour. Each session will feature an exploration of zodiac constellations, a showcase of planetary motion, and a journey through several deep sky objects. We’ll conclude each show with a brief Q&A. Seating is limited to 23 people per show.

Family Open Skating

Time: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Location: Toscano Ice Forum

Family Open Skating has SOLD OUT!  Walk-ups will not be permitted due to limited space at the Toscano Ice Forum.

Has your family ever wanted to skate at the new Toscano Ice Forum, home of the UConn ice hockey teams?  Here is your chance!  Open skating will be free to UConn students and their families during Family Weekend.  This includes complimentary skate rentals too.  Skate rental sizes range from Youth 9 up to Men's 14.  Below is a list of the available skating sessions.  Each session is a 90-minute commitment.  Families must arrive 30 minutes prior to their schedule on-ice time to fill out an Acknowledgement of Risk Form and get fitted for skates.  Each skating session will include 40 minutes of on-ice time, followed by 20 minutes to return skates and depart the locker rooms.  Please arrive on time for the skating session your family signs up for, bring your UConn Student ID, and food/beverages (besides water) is prohibited.

  • Arrive by 4:30pm, skate at 5:00pm, departed by 6:00pm 
  • Arrive by 5:30pm, skate at 6:00pm, departed by 7:00pm
  • Arrive by 6:30pm, skate at 7:00pm, departed by 8:00pm 
  • Arrive by 7:30pm, skate at 8:00pm, departed by 9:00pm 

Shabbat Services & Dinner

Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Hillel House, 54 North Eagleville Road

Please join us for a Family Shabbat at UConn Hillel! Services (optional) begin at 6pm and our free, delicious Kosher dinner begins at 7pm. All are welcome for either services and/or dinner.  Please RSVP to info@uconnhillel.org.

Women's Volleyball vs. Delaware State

Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Volleyball Center

Cheer on UConn Volleyball during the Dog Pound Challenge at the UConn Volleyball Center! UConn will face off against Delaware State, UAlbany, and Dartmouth throughout this weekend tournament.
