Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Greenhouse Tours

The diverse living plant collections of the Ecology & Environmental Biology Biodiversity Collections will be open for drop-in visitors. Staff will be on hand to lead informal tours and point out collections highlights.

William Benton Museum of Art

The William Benton Museum of Art is Connecticut’s state art museum with a collection of more than 6,500 works dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries. The museum annually presents 10-12 exhibitions of art from its collection and from loaned works. Lectures, gallery talks, salon discussions, campus art walks, musical performances, and drawing sessions are among the museum’s popular programs. Bring your family over to do a fun scavenger hunt (for all ages) in our permanent collection gallery. On Friday only, the Beanery Cafe will be open for families to enjoy food and drinks.

Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 2,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials and photographs all covering the history of puppetry. Family Weekend Check-In

Upon your arrival to Family Weekend, stop by Family Weekend Check-In, located in the Student Union. There will be signage across campus pointing towards Check-In. When you visit Family Weekend Check-In, your family will receive copies of the official Family Weekend schedule, important information about the events planned, campus maps, and some UConn freebies!

Farm Friday at Spring Valley Student Farm

Time: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Location: 104 Spring Manor Lane, Mansfield, CT

A representative from the group of eleven students, living and working at UConn Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF), will lead visitors on a guided tour of the fields, greenhouses, edible forest garden and apiary. The students cultivate a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, honey and small fruits, for use on campus, using organic growing methods. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn how SVSF acts as a Living Learning Laboratory. The tour will include on-going research projects including Aquaponic System, Solar Thermal, Solar Photovoltaic, Air Quality Sampling, Sustainable Community Food Systems immersion program and Field Research in Regenerative Horticulture.

United: A Cappella Communities Collide
