The Benton is Connecticut’s state art museum with a collection of more than 6,500 works dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries. The museum annually presents 10-12 exhibitions of art from its own collection as well borrowed works and special exhibits of art department faculty and MFA students. Lectures, gallery talks, forum discussions, campus art walks, musical performances, and drawing sessions are among the museum’s popular programs.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 2,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials and photographs all covering the history of puppetry.  We encourage you to stop by and see all of our treasures.

Upon your arrival to Family Weekend, stop by Family Weekend Check-In, located in the Student Union.  There will be signage across campus pointing towards Check-In.  When you visit Family Weekend Check-In, your family will receive copies of the official Family Weekend schedule, important information about the events planned, campus maps, and some UConn freebies!

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Farm Friday at Spring Valley Student Farm
A representative from the group of eleven students living and working at UConn Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) will lead visitors on a guided tour of the fields, greenhouses, edible forest garden and apiary. The students cultivate a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, honey and small fruits, for use on campus, using organic growing methods. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn how SVSF acts as a Living Learning Laboratory. The tour will include the on-going Aquaponic IDEA Grant and Solar Thermal projects.
